On Saturday, February 29, 2020 more than forty of Delaware’s brightest musicians will come together once again on The Queen Theater stage to present the 9th Annual Shine a Light concert. The evening will feature a tribute to the top hits of the year 1980 and proceeds will benefit the Light Up The Queen Foundation. Each and every song will feature a different lineup of the area’s most talented, influential and prominent musicians. Shine a Light on 1980 promises to be another unforgettable evening of live music, a celebration of local musicians and a fundraiser to support the Light Up the Queen Foundation.

The Light Up The Queen Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting music education through free, high-quality programs in music and arts education. Through our SmartArts! school field trip program we introduce K - 8th grade students to various performance art forms at The Queen. In School Artist Residencies reach into school classrooms mixing art and music with mainstream studies. Our Christian Salcedo Music Scholarship Fund provides financial aid for one-to-one music lessons for bright young students in need. We partner with other organizations like the Delaware Institute of Arts in Education, Summer Collab, and Christina Cultural Arts Center. We also celebrate Wilmington’s rich history of jazz by helping to support the Boysie Lowery Living Jazz Residency which brings world class jazz musicians to study and perform in Wilmington, Delaware. The majority of our funding comes from the proceeds of our signature fundraiser, Shine A Light on 1980. Learn more about our programs over on our website.
