The inaugural Tax Free Comedy Festival roars into town April 27-May 5, 2018!
City Theater Company closes its 24th season this spring with the Tax Free Comedy Festival, the first of its kind in Delaware. For two weekends, audiences and participants enjoy comedy—stand-up, improv, and musical acts—by night, and daytime workshops led by top professionals in the field.
Jana Savini, CTC's Fearless Improv Director, partnered with former Better Than Bacon Director Dan Stabb, Sam Farrand of Delaware Improvised Theater and native Delaware comic Brandon Vincent Jackson to plan the event. After years of attending similar festival weekends all over the country, the four wanted to bring the model to the First State. Submissions came from as far away as Seattle, with chosen acts hailing largely from D.C., Philadelphia, Maryland and Delaware. Workshops feature Gab Bottoni, Steve Kleinedler, Ralph Andracchio, Dan Stabb and Sam Farrand. Says Savini, “Producing a comedy festival in Wilmington has been my dream for a long time. City Theater Company is the right place to make it happen.”
CTC’s new Interim Artistic Director Kerry Kristine McElrone is looking forward to this unique festival. “Part of our mission is new work, and Fearless Improv has been essential in helping create some of that programming. It’s exciting for CTC to be premiering this, and we hope it becomes a staple event in the state for many years to come.”
TICKETS: $10/sngle performance; $25/full night; $45 weekend pass; and $75 Festival pass (includes two comp drinks per night). Workshops start at $25 a session.
