Pastel Progressions, an exhibition of pastel paintings by Nick Serratore, will be on view in the Mezzanine Gallery from May 5-26, 2017. An opening reception to meet the artist will be held on Friday, May 5 from 5-7 p.m.
Nick Serratore has been working in the pastel medium for over 25 years. Over time, his technique and style have evolved. He explains, “The more you work at it, the more you grow as an artist. The paintings are a direct result of that growth.” For this exhibition, Serratore harnesses representations of the land to demonstrate the effects of sunlight and spatial depth upon a scene. His use of color and blending techniques create moody, atmospheric landscapes that frame almost-abstracted fields of saturated light and color.
The Mezzanine Gallery, open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., is located in the Carvel State Office Building, 820 N. French Street, Wilmington.
