How do objects move through air or defy gravity to soar above us? Invention Convention 2014 will explore the force, thrust, drag and motion of aerodynamics and aeronautics.

Aerodynamics examines how objects move through air, while aeronautics studies the techniques that keep aircraft and rockets aloft. Through fun, hands-on activities, families will experience up close how humans have reached faster speeds and higher heights.

Invention Convention 2014 celebrates fifteen years of inspiring innovation and creativity in children and adults alike. Audience favorites like Tinkering Tables, Create an Invention, and daily Science Shows will continue. The hands-on Science Fair returns for the third year with many new experiments and activities related to aerodynamics and aeronautics.

The Hagley Store and food services by the Belin House Organic Café will be available throughout Invention Convention.

Hagley is now accepting donations of unneeded electronics and small appliances such as DVD players, telephones, keyboards, computers (without monitors), and remote-controlled toys for Tinkering Tables. Items may be delivered to the Hagley Visitor Center during open hours.

Admission, including supplies, is $5 for children 4-14, $7 for adults, and free for Hagley members and children 3 and under. Use Hagley’s Buck Road East entrance off Route 100 in Wilmington, Delaware.
